Breeders of:

  • Golden Retriever

Kadaka is a small, family run kennel in the heart of Devon on the edge of dartmoor, close to the sea. Our kennel was started by myself in 1994 and today we currently have four generations of homebred girls in the home, Ella (14), Kassie (9), Roxy (7), Yana (5), Poppy (3) and Mindy (2)
We live on the edge of a small town where our dogs live indoors as part of our family. Our girls are primarily our companions and friends. They love nothing more than running through the woods and swimming in the rivers and sea, whilst getting as dirty as possible on the moor.
Through careful breeding we have produced some stunning dogs, who possess the excellent temperament which is paramount in this loving, gentle breed. We show our dogs, and have been fortunate enough to do very well in the show ring having won numerous first places, Best of Breed's and group placings. We have also achieved stud book numbers and challenge certificates on our own dogs and others we have bred here.
We breed litters occasionaly, mainly when we want a new puppy for ourselves, with the remaining puppies for sale to vetted pet and show homes. Our litters are bred first and formost for type, temperament and soundness. We always take great care and time in choosing the best stud dog to father our litters. Always breeding from quality stock who have been health tested and have attributes which enhance our own pedigrees. Our puppies are usually in the mid to dark gold colour range with paler feathering.

Introducing the four generations of Kadaka girls having fun on the beach. Goldens love to be in the water and our girls are certainly no exception to this rule. They love to run, swim and play tug of war with the seaweed. When the tides are not good for the beach the girls love to explore the woods and moorland around our home. Here the girls love to explore and hunt out smells, chase sticks down the river and of course they love wallowing in mud.

Mindy (Kadaka Kupcake) is our latest addition to the clan Kadaka. She is the daughter of Yana, from her second litter, born in April 2013. She is a funny, playful and intelligent young lady, who surprises us all the time with her antics. She has had a wonderful start to her show career and has taken to the ring like a pro. In her first months of showing she has picked up 9 best puppy in breed, 3 best of breed, 5 puppy group 1 awards, 2 adult group 3 awards, 3 reserve best puppy in show and a best puppy in show all by the age of 10 months.
Roxy (Kadaka Kasscade JW ShCM) is the daughter of Ella born in July 2007. Roxy is our 'posh' girl who likes to be prim and proper and who likes to trot about with airs and graces. She likes to take herself off to do her own thing, mostly rolling in cow pats on the moor. She has had a wonderful show career gaining her Junior warrant and show certificate of merit. She has made us all incredibly proud to have also gained two challenge certificates, one with best of breed and best in show. She then decided to drop her coat big time, once this returns we hope to soon acheive her third challenge certificate to become a show champion

Kassie (Kadaka Klassic) is another daughter of Ella born in 2006. Kassie is the quiet one, who is so soft and loves nothing more than to sit by your feet for a cuddle. All Kassie needs in life is babies, if she hasn't got any of her own she loves to babysit for someone else. She spends hours playing with puppies as the get older and takes her granny duties very seriously. She has now retired from showing and maternal duties but no doubt she will still be on call for grandchildren.

This photo was taken at the Royal Cornwall Show in June 2013. When they had finished their showing for the day the dogs all got together for a birthday party for their dear friend Oakley (centre) who was 14 years old. They had a great time with a special liver flavoured cake to celebrate (human friends had cupcakes) and there were plenty of presents for Oakley to open. All the dogs in this photo are related to the Kadaka lines. Pictured bottom right is 'princess' Poppy (Kadaka Karry on with Klass), pretty in pink.
